A bespoke, bold business website with scene-setting imagery
Starberry recently launched a new property website design for Kalmars – winner of the ‘Most Active Southbank Agent’ award five times and a 3rd generation family agent trading for more than 50 years from its prestigious River Thames office.
The web design brief: A bold web face lift with emphasis on commercial property
Such a strong brand in estate agency deserves a property website to match. Starberry was delighted to create a new web presence for this estate agent, who specialises in commercial, office, industrial, retail, residential sales and lettings along the River Thames in South London.
Our relationship with the Kalmars team got off to a great start and the fluid dialogue enabled us to plan a dynamic business website full of the functions that were high on the clients’ shopping list.
“The Kalmars pledge is to deliver quick results and an on-point property website was requested to help deliver this to clients,” says Rus at Starberry. “For us, a good website starts with understanding a brand’s point of difference and we set out to create a website to help the agency surpass its goals. The Kalmars team were upfront from the start about their desire to have a homepage like no other in the property market, with a greater focus on commercial properties than residential and a site paying lip service to its Thames-side office near Tower Bridge.”
How did we create a property website design that set Kalmars apart from other estate agents?
“The first big difference is a commercial property search function that appears above the fold on the homepage. In addition, ‘commercial’ has been made the first tab at the top of each page wherever you navigate – these two elements reinforce the Kalmars business objective to keep commercial property high up the agenda,” says Rus.
The homepage is also characterised by a rotating gallery of images (automatically changing and also swipe-able by the user), which showcases the South Bank and London locations where Kalmars wants to push its brand. “The choice of images has been very deliberate,” adds Rus. “It follows the desire to ramp up Kalmars’ location on the River Thames – it’s a very active area for commercial and residential property and a niche market in which our client excels.”
Functionality is provided by a draw search, ‘My Account’ facility and integrated ValPal API for instant valuations, with a complementary Social Media wall spanning Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram. Multi-channel social posts can be viewed at the same time or users can filter the social wall based on their favourite channel: “The Instagram account is especially important as it’s the most visually-driven, dovetailing with the client’s desire to promote its River Thames location,” comments Rus.
Eye-catching aesthetics are backed up with a deep SEO strategy that propels Kalmars high up the ranking in search engines: “There’s much more to this property website than meets the eye, with algorithms, very careful meta tagging, clever copywriting and coding that ensures the Kalmars site is as visible as possible,” adds Rus.
