Prioritising User Experience
Grosvenor Billinghurst was established in 2002 by a team of hugely experienced estate agents disenchanted with the world of ‘corporate’ estate agency. Their goal was to create a genuinely boutique estate agency business led by branch-based Directors that all shared the same business vision.
The company now has five branches all over Surrey and the firm is renowned for delivering a personal and dynamic service experience to every customer – the kind of service that always puts the customer first, that ensures they come back time and again, and that makes every one of the company’s five offices local marketplace leaders.
Starberry’s job for the company was to completely reimagine their old website so that it more accurately reflected the customer’s experience in Grosvenor Billinghurst’s actual offices. We spent plenty of time researching the company’s business model and understanding the engagement drivers for their customers so that we could replicate the customers experience.
Our experts then completely turned the appearance of the old site on its head by introducing plenty of space to give a cutting-edge look and feel, and to highlight key messages. The design team introduced a horizontal split page, with the top section featuring a white background, clear and concise calls to action, and animated text for dramatic impact.
At Starberry HQ we all love working on design for UX – it gives us that warm and fuzzy feeling only user experience can. Some of the Starberry team’s favourite features on this project included: an intelligent ‘Similar Properties’ recommendation engine which cleverly shows users other properties they might be interested in based on all their recent searches; a ‘Nearest Schools’ tool for families, which even includes school’s OFSTED ratings; and a ‘Stamp Duty Calculator’ to make moving costs as transparent for customers as possible.
But other than these three features, the design of this site has stayed refreshingly simple, with the real fuel and fire being reserved for the truly exemplary UX. The end result is a smart and impressive lead generating website that is still friendly and approachable – the absolute definition of Grosvenor Billinghurst.
