Sophisticated simplicity: how we showcased multiple services within one stunning website design

 

Fisher German is one of the UK’s leading chartered surveyors and property consultants, with national visibility across six major property market sectors. Their services within those sectors include chartered surveying, consultancy and estate agency. The company asked us to create an easy-to-use site that would showcase their diverse operations, improve the UX and help them grow their business.

 

The web design brief: uniting a network of services under one design, with enhanced search features

Fisher German’s stated objective to “exceed the expectations of our existing and future clients by enthusing and delighting them in everything we do” was a great starting point for this project. The company not only wanted better brand presentation and more valuation requests, they were also looking for a visually stunning, easy-to-use site with excellent SEO and a search capability with features similar to Rightmove’s.

 

It was essential for us to learn as much as we could about the company’s operations, so our team invested additional time in the discovery phase, gathering information about each individual service and its place in Fisher German’s organisational structure. We used agile methodologies to obtain a clear picture of their business objectives and expectations: this included sending out tailored questionnaires to key stakeholders and staff members and setting up a weekly video call between Fisher German and Starberry, so we could monitor progress and gather feedback at every stage of the project.

 

One of the biggest items on Fisher German’s wishlist was a sophisticated search function, and we were able to add some cutting edge features to improve the user experience.

 

How did we create a property website design that was unique and fresh yet kept within brand guidelines?

Fisher German loved the Starberry website and a number of other sites we had designed and developed. Understanding what they liked about these sites was a useful jumping-off point to create the look and feel of the new website, and we went on to build their brand identity and colours into a fantastic new design.

 

The company’s old website was cluttered and unclear, so our first task was to make it easy for users to understand and navigate around the different sectors and services on the site. In order to help Fisher German generate more leads and increase its business, the Starberry team placed open forms and relevant CTAs on all pages. As a finishing touch, we also added some very subtle animation in order to add more life to the pages.

 

Key web design features and functionality built into the Fisher German property website design:

  • Developing a backend database robust enough to serve Fisher German’s large scale national operation
  • Working with two major CRM system providers – Reapit and Agency Pilot – to set the property feed for the Residential and Commercial sectors
  • Adding directory integration for the team page and case studies
  • Adding search facilities such as Travel Time (where the user can to look for properties within a specific journey time); Draw Search (which lets the user define their particular search area by drawing a polygon on the map) and Radius Search (which helps users find properties with a certain distance).
