About This Project
Miles and Barr our one of the leading estate agents in the South East with 14 branches throughout towns and villages located along the Kent coastline.
We were delighted to have hit it off with the management team at the initial pitch and to be given the opportunity to take their brand to another level online.
Miles & Barr have a refreshing brand which has a fantastic offline presence, upon which we have been able to build.
Having agreed a detailed ‘feature rich’ requirements specification, we set off with the discovery stage of our agile development process. This includes in part, company wide questionnaires, researching Miles & Barr products and services, understanding the different client needs, reviewing competitors and learning about the areas in which they operate.
The UX & UI stage drove us to our first quick win. We would visually engage with customers, using some outstanding imagery by a highly regarded photographer who has managed to capture some real ‘money shots’ of all the local areas, creating an instant wow factor. This high impact photography follows from the homepage throughout the website to their offices and area guides, which also include an Instagram feed of further local shots.
Another feature that we developed is the split screen search, which presents the property listings next to a map, offering a quick reveal of each property and a much easier way to understand location and the overall vicinity. Seeing the volume of property across all their areas also demonstrates why in most cases they are the leaders, with at least a 50% share of all available property on the market.
Miles & Barr’s website is packed full with a lot of informative content, but at no point does it overwhelm. A simple navigation presents the key departments clearly and consistently, and offers the ability to deep dive for more detailed information via a secondary navigation, only when required.
As with all estate agents, winning new instructions is always the biggest KPI, followed by any other data capture point that will start a communication with existing or potential clients. So with that in mind, we designed and produced very user friendly forms throughout and integrated an ‘instant valuation’ tool, for users who want to get rough idea of how much their property is worth, on the spot. All leads are captured, tracked and presented in our data dashboard which frequently surfaces further valuable insights.
